MacEwan University practices the Fall, Winter, Spring/ Summer term. Term is one of three periods of time within which instruction occurs (Fall, Winter, Spring/ Summer). There may be one or more sessions within a term.

At MacEwan University, a minimum full-time course load for Fall or Winter term is 9 credits. This is typically 3 courses. A minimum full-time course load for the Spring/Summer term is as follows: 3 credits in a one-month session (e.g., one 3-credit course in May session).

Here are MacEwan’s important dates and deadlines for fall 2024.

1. New Student Orientation will be held on September 3, 2024.
2. MacEwan fall 2024 classes start on September 4, 2024.
3. Waitlists closed on September 6, 2024.
4. Students will be removed from Waitlists on September 10, 2024.
5. The last day to add or drop Regular Session classes with no tuition and fee adjustments after this date is September 13, 2024.
6. The last day to apply for Fall Convocation is September 15, 2024.
7. The deadline for payment of Regular Session tuition and fees is on September 30, 2024.
8. There will be no Regular Session classes on September 30, 2024, due to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
9. There will be a MacEwan Reading Week Break from November 12 to November 15, 2024, with no Regular Session classes.
10. Fall Convocation is on November 13, 2024.
11. The last day of classes and the last day to withdraw from Regular Session classes without academic penalty is December 9, 2024.
12. Final Exams will take place from December 11 to December 19, 2024.
13. MacEwan Christmas Break 2024 is from December 20, 2024, to January 5, 2025.
14. Session grades are due on December 24, 2024.

MacEwan academic calendar for Spring/Summer 2025 Term

The Spring/Summer 2025 term at MacEwan University consists of several sessions with different start dates:

• May Session: Classes begin on May 1, 2025. Waitlists close the same day, and students are removed from waitlists on May 2, 2025.
• June Session: Starts on June 2, 2025, with waitlists closing the same day and students removed from waitlists on June 3, 2025.
• July and August Sessions: Begin on July 2 and August 1, 2025, respectively, with corresponding key deadlines for class enrollment and fee payment.
• Final exams are scheduled at the end of each session.
