NSFAS Wallet: How to Access your Account Balance 2024

Share

NSFAS Wallet allows NSFAS-funded students to receive their allowances, withdraw cash and pay for goods at participating stores or to informal traders.

To receive NSFAS Allowances through your wallet, you will need the following:

  • Your own cell phone and valid SIM card.
  • You must sign your NSFAS Bursary Agreement if you are a new student to NSFAS.
  • You will not need to withdraw cash to pay your landlord or any registered merchant.

Now, you can receive your allowances through the NSFAS Bank Card.

If you want to withdraw cash at participating stores, create a cash voucher (see below for steps) and withdraw the cash at Shoprite, Usave, Checkers, SPAR, Choppies, or Boxer.

If you want to buy goods at participating stores, create a Cash Voucher to pay for goods in-store such as Shoprite, Usave, Checkers, SPAR, Choppies, Boxer, Van Schaiks, Nando’s, Romans Pizza, McDonald’s, Burger King, Spur, Hungry Lion, Debonairs, Rocomamas and John Dorys amongst others.

Note that these stores have daily cash withdrawal limits from R200 to R1000 per day.

  1. Dial the shortcode *120*176#
  2. Enter your password.

How to unlock your nsfas wallet

From the 2023 academic year, NSFAS migrated students from all TVET colleges, who receive their allowances through NSFAS Wallet and institutional disbursement services, to a direct payment system that will see students receive allowances directly into their bank accounts.

If you planning to enroll at a public TVET college in 2025, you must open a bank account in preparation for the rollout of allowances through bank accounts.
